The app doesn't find my TV
  • Make sure your phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network. A guest network often blocks devices from seeing each other.
  • Turn off any VPN on your phone.
  • On iPhone, check Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network and make sure Remotely TV is switched on.
  • Make sure the TV runs Google TV or Android TV. See which TVs work.
  • Restart the TV: unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
How do I pair?

Tap your TV in the app. A 6-character code appears on the TV screen. Type it into the app. You only need to do this once per phone.

The app asks me to pair again

This happens if the TV forgot your phone, for example after a factory reset or a big software update. Pair again with the new code on the TV.

Can the app turn my TV on?

Sometimes. While the TV is in standby, Remotely TV tries to wake it over the network, but some TVs turn off Wi-Fi completely when they're off. If yours does, look in the TV's settings for an option such as "Network standby", "Wake on Wi-Fi" or "Quick start" and turn it on.

Voice search doesn't work

Allow microphone access when the app asks, or turn it on later in your phone's settings. Some TVs don't accept voice from phone remotes. On those, the voice button is hidden.

Showing messages on the TV

Your TV needs a small helper app to display messages. Remotely TV works with the free, open-source PiPup app and the tv-home launcher. Install one of them on the TV from its project page, then send a message from More → Message.

An app tile doesn't open the app

App tiles open the app using its web link, and a few apps don't support that on every TV. Make sure the app is installed on the TV. If it still doesn't open, let us know which app and TV.

Does Remotely TV cost anything?

No. It's free, with no ads, no subscription and no in-app purchases.
